the line in on my SB Live card from 1999 went. i'm gonna have to get a new card for this system. I believe its PCI. The puter was built in 2007. the two cards i currently have are:
Creative SB Live! Value
Santa Cruz(tm)
They dont make SB Live Value cards anymore right? and they dont use PCI cards as most are built into the motherboard. If you have two cards, most go via USB, right? I'd rather get a card that i can put into the system. do they still make new internal cards for desktops? I see a lot of used ones on eBay.
I'd like to get another Creative SB Live! Value if I can.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks!
Hi,
I may have an SB Live value card laying around. This was from an old Dell. It still works fine. I could send it to you if you wanted. That is, if I can find it. Do you have XP? I thought that was the last drivers that were supported on sound blaster Live cards.
As you stated, most cards are built-in to motherboards; however, you can still find plenty of PCI cards at either www.amazon.com or at www.newegg.com
I personally prefer www.newegg.com.
The card I have is from a 2001 Dell but is an SB Live and is compatible with XP but I'm not sure about 7?
Nathan.
Hey Nathon ,
I currently use Windows XP Pro. If you have any idea ware that sound card may be i'd love to have it. how much you want for it?
They still makes PCI cards. Even you can get one from Creative if you are interested. Plenty drivers for XP as well.
Okay here's the weird thing. when I reboot the line-in works fine.
I've had my Turtle Beach card go out as well (Thank got I have braille), and when i've rebooted it comes back also. Its not the cards I dont think. Any ideas what it could be?
It happens only intermittently. The puter got a cleaning last year when i had the CMOS battery changed.
The fan is pretty loud when it startts up cold too, but quiets down.
This fan thing happens from a startup or when coming back from standby.
Any ideas?
First of all, I am assuming you mean a desktop computer. Secondly, sound blaster cards, in general, are prone to a lot of issues. It sounds like either a falty sound card or a driver error. Either way, you won't be able to determine what the problem is unless you use some type of diagnostic software.
John, the card I have doesn't come with the software CD, but XP pro should automatically recognize the card. It makes a weird noise that kind sounds like popping, though.
I'd just give it to you for nothing. Give me a day and let me see if I have it; it is at my house and I am going home from college on Friday.
Nathan.
mine makes a weird popping noise with jaws coming thru it. it only happens if elequence speaks. I have elaquence coming thru the turtle beach, not SB Live so no popping for me.
yes this is a desktop PC>
